Camino Frances 2024 Day 0 - Jun 4, 2024

I arrived in St. Jean and enjoyed walking around and listening to my body. All good. Weight feels good too. I like the town - quaint and active without feeling overrun. The Camino crowd is different. I am staying on the edge of town at Coquille Napoleon run by Vincent, a friendly elderly Basque. I met Paul and Fan Chew two retired doctors from Sarawak with whom it was fun to talk about Malaysia and our different travels. And a sock designer/now facialist from New York traveling with a student from Finland. Victor comes in the morning and Wednesday we do our first day long walk. Even before we start there have been so many transitions - home, uber, airports, flights, train stations, short walks, train rides, different conversations, hotel - each one with a purpose but none enough as there is always more. The word that stuck with me is refuge.
