Camino Frances 2024 - Countdown
In February, a casual conversation with my brother introduced me to the pilgrimage of Camino de Santiago. It is a network of pilgrims’ ways leading to the shrine of the apostle James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle are buried.
By the end of the conversation we had agreed to walk the pligrimage together this summer.
Our journey starts in a few days on June 4. Over the following 3 weeks we will walk the Frances route, beginning at St. Jean Pied de Port in Southern France, roughly 500 km. I am in the process of packing and mentally preparing myself for the trip.
I look forward to the many moments with my brother with whom I have not spent this much time since the late 1980s.
At the same time, I am walking to connect more deeply with those who have been forced to walk or compelled to walk in order to create change in the world.
I’ll blog on the experience here. Check back in to follow my progress.
