Methodology matters…

As a leader, I have managed from both philosophy and methodology.

I have used the former in line with broadly held shared values within the institution (normally based on the institution’s Shared Purpose statement), and rarely, based on my views alone.

Methodology could be more laborious, but stands a better chance to involve and excite the organization and discover new facts that could make a difference in the outcome, and at the end, yield more understood and embraced results.

Your choice depends on the kind of leader you are and how much you prefer to direct versus engage those who follow you, or enjoy theoretical conversations about your beliefs versus landing workable outcomes that serve a broad interest.
